Position of General Secretary
Knowledge and Skills required:
- Practising Christian and belonging to a Church that is a member of the Council or a related inter-church council
- Knowledge of the history of Ecumenism and recent developments e.g. Receptive Ecumenism
- Interest in and acceptance of the diversity of the Council’s member Churches and willingness to maintain regular contact with church leaders through written communication and face-to-face meetings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with diverse audiences, plus excellent people skills
- Understanding of the requirements of a small Incorporated organisation and ability to oversee its administrative processes
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to organise Council and Executive meetings, workshops and public events
- Ability to work alone as well as with the Council’s Administrator, volunteers, committees and commissions
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals and organisations external to the Council
- Ability to strengthen interfaith relationships in cooperation with existing networks in member churches
- Confident to communicate and manage by electronic means, including preparation of the Council’s E-Newsletter
- Valid drivers’ licence, use of own car and ability to travel throughout NSW several times a year
