 Position of General Secretary

Knowledge and Skills required:

  1. Practising Christian and belonging to a Church that is a member of the Council or a related inter-church council
  2. Knowledge of the history of Ecumenism and recent developments e.g. Receptive Ecumenism
  3. Interest in and acceptance of the diversity of the Council’s member Churches and willingness to maintain regular contact with church leaders through written communication and face-to-face meetings
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with diverse audiences, plus excellent people skills
  5. Understanding of the requirements of a small Incorporated organisation and ability to oversee its administrative processes
  6. Good organisational and time management skills
  7. Ability to organise Council and Executive meetings, workshops and public events
  8. Ability to work alone as well as with the Council’s Administrator, volunteers, committees and commissions
  9. Ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals and organisations external to the Council
  10. Ability to strengthen interfaith relationships in cooperation with existing networks in member churches
  11. Confident to communicate and manage by electronic means, including preparation of the Council’s E-Newsletter
  12. Valid drivers’ licence, use of own car and ability to travel throughout NSW several times a year
